„- - - dies werde ich einhalten den Ere-triern (gegenüber), wenn sie Folge leisten dem Volk der Athe-ner.“ – Dass den Eid abnehme die Gesandtschaft nach ihrer Ankunft aus Ere-tria zusammen mit den Eideshelfern den Athenern und aufschrei-be diejenigen, die geschworen haben. Dass alle schwören, da-für sollen Sorge tragen die Strategen. Nach folgendem (Wortlaut)sollen sie schwören: „Nicht abfallen werde ich vom Volkder Athener, nicht durch List oder Machenschaft,nicht in Wort oder Tat, und werde dem, der ab-fällt, nicht folgen, und wenn jemand auf Abfall sinnt, (ihn) anzeigenden Athenern; und den Tribut zahlen den Athe-nern, zu dem ich die Athener veranlassen kann - - -- - -“
